Walking in the park and happened upon this large swallowtail. Male correct? Not much blue if any where the females are so colorful.

Escapee??
I'm not sure why you would consider this an escapee. The range maps I have show them into central Oklahoma. Even if you aren't in the normal range, that isn't far for a vagrant.

I'm sorry, I should have explained that adjective. He has a tail missing and a part of his forewing, so I'm assuming he escaped from a bird. Sorry for the confusion.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail - Male
I'm in VA and get them all the time in our garden. It's our state butterfly. They are huge and beautiful, but the females are much prettier.
