"Copper Clad"
I don't remember where I heard this, but I think Chalcophora may be Greek for "copper-clad" or "wearer of copper". If this is true, I can see why! (Any greek speakers out there? - please correct me if this is wrong.)

Correct
At least it means "bearer of copper" with the implication of "wearing" entirely within the ordinary range of meanings.

sure
Chalco- from the Greek for copper and -phoros, bearing, from pherein, to carry.
