Would appreciate any info on this hairy caterpillar. On a path so I don't know what it would feed on.

Hemileuca eglanterina
The only species of
Hemileuca
found on Vancouver Island is
Hemileuca eglanterina
. That larva was likely looking for a place to pupate, since BC populations overwinter both as eggs and pupae.
