Unkown - Diestrammena asynamora - Male
Sardinia, Lake Waynoka, Brown County, Ohio, USA
September 17, 2010
Size: One inch
"Cricket-like" creature found in our lake front cottage in SW Ohio. Any time of day, latest Sept 17, 2010.
Very fast, big jumps, example shown of a larger one, smaller also found. Two "feelers" from rear, three "toes".
Any ideas on how to exterminate.

They are not harmful, though I loathe them, as they tend to show up unexpectedly in the shower or basement and jump out at (or even on) me.

Best thing to do is to look for cracks through which they can enter your home and seal them up and try to reduce the humidity level inside (both of which are good for your house anyway). They are probably coming in from outside rather than reproducing inside your house, so extermination is not a great option (you can't kill off everything out there!).
