A good day for Pythidae - Pytho

A good day for Pythidae - Pytho
Windham, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA
March 24, 2006
I stopped to investigate a wooded area after work and found loads of pythids under the bark of two conifer logs. I found over a dozen each of larvae and adults of Pytho niger at one log, and a dozen or so Pytho Planus adults (no larvae present) plus one Pytho niger at another log. The adults were all resting in their little barricaded vacuoles under the bark where they must have pupated and expupated, awaiting warmer weather no doubt before going in search of mates.
