Monhegan click beetle - Agriotes fucosus
Monhegan, Lincoln County, Maine, USA

I was birding in the woods of the upper part of the island with Matias Deming when we came across this critter on a tree trunk. I have not found a match for it yet.

... that I would be hearing from you! Thanks Vassili! I have no plans yet to return to Monhegan, but it is a wonderful place, so will take advantage if opportunity provides. And then will keep my eyes peeled for this critter...
