Hornet or Wasp?? - Polistes fuscatus - Male

Size: 3/4" ±
This handsome creature was resting on the bottom rail of my balcony. It was camera-shy but I managed to get this one decent shot before it left. It has what looks like a riveted and decorative medievil head guard!
