This pic was taken a year or two ago, but I don't remember the time of year it was taken. The casing was found in the vicinity of oak and pine trees.

Moved from Gall Wasps. I just found this exact same thing today, attached to a white oak (Quercus alba), and I believe it is an old one of these:

I couldn't tell from the photo that the outer covering is a squishy, fibrous material.

those are pupa, not eggs.
