Pygmy grasshopper - Tetrix ornata

Pygmy grasshopper - Tetrix ornata
Lizard Creek Wildlife Area, Webster County, Iowa, USA
August 22, 2010
Size: 7-8 mm
Not sure which pygmy grasshopper this is; has a white patch like Tetrix arenosa, but, it doesn't seem to quite match up.

Going back and reviewing these,
I see (I think) that I goofed here. On further looking, it seems more like T. ornata. Sometimes it is very hard to tell just from one photo (T. arenosa tends to be more slender, and is more flat on top, usuall a bit narrower than this between the eyes, and I think not often with such a short pronotum).

Moved from Obscure Pygmy Grasshopper.
