Moths mating on a small live oak tree - Phryganidia californica - male - female

Moths mating on a small live oak tree - Phryganidia californica - Male Female
Carpinteria Bluffs, Carpinteria, Santa Barbara County, California, USA
September 26, 2010
Size: ~2 cm
There were a large number of these moths fluttering around a small oak tree at the Carpinteria Bluffs this afternoon. This image shows what I believe are two moths mating (female at the top of the image, male below), with a second male fluttering off to the side. (It was the fluttering of the latecomer that alerted me to the other moths' presence.) I uploaded a YouTube video showing the moths flying around the tree.

The tree itself was heavily infested with caterpillars. I'm assuming the caterpillars were the same species as the adults, but I don't actually know, and would appreciate any opinions on that, as well as any help with the ID. Thanks.

Maybe Phryganidia californica?
