Milkweed Tortoise Beetle? - Charidotella succinea

Milkweed Tortoise Beetle? - Charidotella succinea
Ruidoso, Lincoln County, New Mexico, USA
September 23, 2010
Size: 4-5mm
I have been wanting to find a Tortoise Beetle for over a year. From what I have seen in my field guide I think this is a Milkweed Tortoise Beetle. Thanks so much for your help!

Moved from Tortoise Beetles.

i want it to be Metrionella bilimeki...
...but it's probably just a Charidotella
really wish we had a closer view of the bug

I will check
I will have to figure out which external drive it is on but I will look to see if I have any other shots. What is it you are looking for exactly? I don't have any from the bottom, that much I am positive.

Hmm...
I don't think it's a Milkweed (or Argus) Tortoise Beetle. According to the Guide, they resemble Lady Beetles.

That said, I have no suggestions as to which Tortoise Beetle it might be. I'm not finding any really strong matches.

I'll bet the beetle experts will know, though.
