Root-eating Beetle - Rhizophagus sayi

Root-eating Beetle - Rhizophagus sayi
Boxborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
March 26, 2006
Size: 2.8mm
There were 2 of these small beetles walking around a tree trunk in the sun with some springtails.

I'm just itching to find one of these little guys.
Nice thing about you and I, Tom, is that we're in the same bio-zone so we serve often as an early warning system for each other as to what we could be finding next...

I'm not itching anymore :-)
I found one. At least I think so. Am posting.

that I found these 2 and another were all on the same tree. If you want, I can show you where it is. The area is a large woodland with some trails, and lots of dead trees.

Thanks for the offer.
Maybe after I get my taxes done. I have to swear off collecting till then.
