Spider - Dolomedes tenebrosus

Spider - Dolomedes tenebrosus
Muscatine County, Iowa, USA
September 23, 2010

Moved
Moved from Dolomedes scriptus.
More ways to tell these apart added to the info tab. Basically D. scriptus has an uninterrupted band of lighter coloration between the anterior and posterior eye row, tenebrosus has an inverted v of darker coloration that runs through there.

Moved
Moved from ID Request. Yes I think scriptus is correct. The main difference between scriptus and tenebrosus is that the 'W' pattern on scriptus is outlined in white all the way across the abdomen. The pattern in tenebrosus is broken.. and it generally has less white.

Fishing Spider, Dolomedes
I think that one might possibly be Dolomedes scriptus. Either that or light Dolomedes tenebrosus. Let's see what others think.
