Hanging Spider - Neoscona crucifera - male

Hanging Spider - Neoscona crucifera - Male
Escondido, San Diego County, California, USA
October 3, 2010
Size: 1.5 cm legspan
Hanging from what seemed to be a single line, about 10 ft below the eaves of my house. No web visible, although perhaps there was one higher up I couldn't see (it was night, and dark). It almost looks to be a "deflated" Neoscona, maybe crucifera--but the abdomen just looks too small.

Moved from Spiders.

Yes looks to be Neoscona crucifera
The adult males often seem to have these proportions with a small abdomen.
