Size: 2.34 mm
Taken from litter in a hay barn. Pronotum and head dark black-brown, pronotum with very shallow basal impression, elytra lighter with surface between punctures slightly rippled and hair conspicuous, appendages testaceous...characteristic of Corticaria varicolor Fall.

thanks for all the additions!
i would suggest, though, orienting the dorsal shots consistently in upright position [head to the 'north'] -- makes it a lot easier to compare photos put side-by-side
