Insane pile-up - Epitheca princeps

Insane pile-up - Epitheca princeps
Slidell, East Pearl River, St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, USA
April 23, 2010
I saw these all over the place: giant piles of cast skins, remnants of a mad dash to find the highest outcrop and molt.

Moved from Larvae and Exuviae.

Why Skimmers?
While I certainly can't see all of them, most have well developed middorsal hooks and lateral spines. Combined with the paired tubercles on the dorsal surface of the epicranium and I would say that these are Prince Baskettail exuvia.

I think that was an error on my part.
I think I originally intended to place these photos at a higher taxonomic level, and somehow messed it up.
