Habropoda - Habropoda depressa

Habropoda - Habropoda depressa
Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden, Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
March 29, 2006
Feeding in Berberis nevinii (Nevin's Barberry), competing with Honey Bees (about the same size, though more robust, and hairier) for this resource. They were numerous, fast fliers, never long in a flower, and some often chasing each other (mating? competing?).

Likely H. depressa according to John S. Ascher - see remarks with far right image.
