TINY little bug! - Dicyrtomina

TINY little bug! - Dicyrtomina
Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
October 5, 2010
Size: Microscopic
Tiny little bug sitting on branch between "raisin" fungi I am studying. The branch fell from the top of about a 50' tree. The fungi are interesting because they inflate and look like raisins after a rain, but dehydrate the rest of the time. They also grow at height on high tree branches. This little bug was on a branch that had been blown down after a heavy wind and rain.

Jelly fungus
Your fungus is one of the "jelly fungi". Mycologist Rosanne Healy notes that Exidia recisa is a raisin-like jelly fungus, but also cautions that positive identification requires looking at microscopic features.

Springtail
Looks like one of the globular springtails. Tiny, yes!
