Cecropia moth?
When was this photo taken? The Cecropia moth (Hyalophora cecropia) turns up in late spring or early summer.

Edit: perhaps out of range too. Perhaps somebody with more expertise than me will come along...

It was earlier this summer, probably June, I don't remember exactly

If you still have the original photo, you can look up the date the photo was taken by looking at the properties -- right click on the photo and it will bring up the properties menu along with the date created.

That timeframe sounds OK
But probably not the Cecropia. Ceanothus silkmoth (Hyalophora euryalus) looks pretty similar to your specimen and occurs in B.C.
