Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
Includes the former Agabus seriatus group (1). The following Nearctic Agabus species are now classified under Ilybiosoma: A. perplexus, A. ilybiiformis, A. pandurus, A. brevicollis, A. regularis, A. lugens, A. roguus, A. minnesotensis, and A. seriatus (as I. seriatum). See Nilsson (2001) for more details.
With the exception of I. seriatum, it is generally difficult to separate the species based on external characters alone- dissection and examination of male genitalia are usually needed.
Mainly western with center of diversity in the southwest (1); only I. seriatum is transcontinental and thus the only one found in the east (1).
Lotic, in streams and springs (1)
