Identity: Large Garden Spider? - Argiope trifasciata

Size: 1 1/4" - 1 1/2"
Is this a yellow banded garden spider? It's quite rare to spot something this size in these parts.

That was my guess but he looks a fair bit rounder/larger than any of the pics I went through. Thanks.
