Andrena (Dactylandrena) - Andrena - female

Andrena (Dactylandrena) - Andrena - Female
Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Gardens, Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
March 29, 2006
Osmia or Megachile?
This small bee shuttled quickly from one flower to another, mostly in the inner parts of the Chaparral Current (Ribes malvaceum var. viridifolium, see adjacent photo). Here it is seen sunning on a leaf of a neighboring shrub, Lemonadeberry (Rhus integrifolia).
This January I observed these insects in White Flowering Current (Ribes indecorum), completely ignoring the flowering Manzanitas.

Andrena
was this bee green or black? If black it could be A. (Dactylandrena) as in the other image

Appeared black -
I just submitted another version of the same image. Don't know why it appears greenish in this down-sized version.

Also, clearly partial to Ribes!

Neither of both...
Because there are three submarginal cells, the second distinctly smaller than the third. This, together with overall habitus and relatively short maxillar galeae, indicate an Andrenid bee (Andrenidae)

Thanks
for the wake-up call, Richard.
I do see the three submarginal cells (better on my monitor; lately I noticed that images pale somewhat, and become a bit less clear after submission to this site), also that the second is clearly smaller than the third. Hope to take some better shots to see the rest.
