Fragile Forktail - Ischnura posita? -
Ischnura posita

Can you please confirm my identification? Wish I had better image, especially of thorax, but this seems to be Fragile Forktail. Or is it? Thanks a lot.

Certainly could be
Were there any males in the vicinity? Seems to have a broken thoracic stripe, and doesn't seem to have a vulvar spine, so I. posita looks good. If so, maybe the dark one you submitted later is also posita and that's why it looked so grey instead of blue. Again, size and date would be important additions to the data.

Thank you
for your comments. I don't recall if this and the specie in the other picture were near each other on the same day. My record shows these images were taken 3 days apart, but both photos were taken in my yard. I wonder if this information helps? I appreciate the information you've given me as to what I should be keeping in mind as I take pictures.

My, what a nice yard you have!
One last general comment and we'll quit bugging you. Multiple images are usually very helpful for identification. Here on Bugguide you can post several images to get an ID and then send to FRASS the images you feel later are extraneous. Interestingly, unless you really know the animals, you don't really know which images are important to record. Thanks for all the great images. We've been long missing pictures from the middle of the country.
