Tiny thing with feathery wings - Anaphes - Female
Pelham, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
Size: ~0.5 mm (wings ~1 mm)
Found dead on 10/18/2010 in a bag containing some garden columbine leaves, a columbine skipper caterpillar (which spun a cocoon a few weeks ago but hasn't pupated yet) and several agromyzid flies that apparently just emerged (I inspected the bag because I heard something twitching inside it, which turned out to be the caterpillar, irritated by a fly that had wandered into its cocoon).

Mymarid is right…
The tiny size, spatulate wings with a long marginal fringe, and long antennae indicate this group. This is definitely a female. Some have peculiar-shaped abdomens. They are all egg parasitoids, mostly of plant and leafhoppers, but other hosts are always on the menu.

Makes me think of Mymaridae


Of course, that's just speculation on my part. Wait to hear from someone with some actual expertise. :)
