Paeromopus angusticeps.
I found a similar large, long, blackish millipede in Santa Cruz Co (photos). I can just make out the striations in the middle photo, and the only recorded Paeromopus in Santa Cruz is P. angusticeps.

Thanks again, we are now finding more, one on North Escape Rd last weekend, and in August at Portola State park in western San Mateo. Your ID handled their query too!
