Data point for NJ (& also for Sept). IDed by visual match to the guide: "jumping beetle" got me in the right neighborhood, brute force got me the rest of the way. Corrections of course welcome. Found while weeding the so-called lawn (I say 'so-called' because it's never been done before, so it's more weed than lawn, & this particular patch was down to bare soil); plants in the vicinity included smartweed (the small, pink-flowered species we get around here). Beetle is on a latex-gloved fingertip.
