At 2:55, the moth abruptly clapped its wings together. It maintained this posture until 3:01, when it just as abruptly returned to the flattened posture shown in the preceding photo. Then it remained motionless for about five hours. During the last hour or so of this time, it was outdoors in the dark and was free to leave, which it finally did. Photo taken at 2:56.
