Very nice picture

WOW
Darn good photo, Scott!

I Found....
this little beauty on a cold day right before sunset. It was very sluggish and could not fly, so I was able to get a good series of images of it.

Thanks Robert!

Thanks Ross! I would have never guessed that this was an ant parasite. The area that I found it in has a very large colony of carpenter (?) ants living in a tree just a few feet away.

Eucharitidae…
You can see many of the characteristics including the many-segmented antennae which lack a club, a biconvex-shaped head, a humpbacked thorax, a stalked abdomen which is attached low on the thorax, five-segmented tarsi, and especially the sickle-shaped mandibles which are very evident in ventral views. Many have a metallic hue like this one. These are all ant parasitoids. Very nice Scott.

See reference here.

Spectacular...
as usual! What a gorgeous series. :-)

Reminds me...I owe you some data. This weekend.

Thanks Jeff!
I have those images to process of your litter critters. Time flies!
