membracid bug - Enchenopa latipes

membracid bug - Enchenopa latipes
Halifax near Roach Pond, Nova Scotia, Canada
October 24, 2010
Size: 5 mm
We are looking at jumping performance and mechanisms in various bugs that jump. This is a new species not found by us before, when using sweep nets in low mixed vegetation bordering a wood. A piece of the tarsus of the right hind leg is missing. Any clue as to the genus and species would be most welcome.

deformed Campylenchia
You will notice that the shape of the pronotum is different from that of the other specimen. Our collection has a similarly deformed Enchenopa, from New Brunswick.

I'll be interesting in seeing what Dr. Hamilton has to say.
