Anthomyiidae? - Trixoscelis flavida

Anthomyiidae? - Trixoscelis flavida
Sierra Foothills REC, Browns Valley, California, USA
May 1, 2009
Size: 2 mm long, .7 mm wide
collected via vacuum sampling in a California grassland

Moved
Moved from Trixoscelis.

Probably Trixoscelis flavida
This looks male. If it is, the combination of unmarked wings, yellow first flagellomere, narrow gena, black fore femur, and unmodified yellow hind basitarsus makes it Trixoscelis flavida. ID gets easier as you go north because there are a lot of desert species.

Moved
I can't be 100% sure from this angle, but this seems to be Trixoscelis.

Moved from Muscoidea.

Cropping
This image would benefit from cropping it closer to the bug. Remember that only you and the editors can see the full size image. Others miss all the details.
You can crop it and then edit this submission and replace the image.
If you are not sure of the ID you should place it at the level of certainty, say Muscoidea, or in Id request.
