I can't get a good look and say for certain, but I think this is a representative of the Atopetholidae (Spirobolida), and Sta. Cruz Co. would be a new northern limit for the family, previously known from Monterey Co. southward. Rowland Shelley

 
Spirobolida! That would be a first for me!
Looking at this again, I can see that this does have a different shape from the smaller millipedes I see at night in the parking lot. Aside from just being larger, this is much wider in the middle than at the ends, and also wider in proportion to its length.

The next time I see one, I will be sure to get some better photos. I am going to move it to Spirobolida, and correct my title!

Thanks for the ID help and the information. That would be great if I could get follow up photos that would establish a new northern limit for the Atopetholidae family!
