Thanks David,
What's the difference between Tetrix arenosus and arenosa - Obscure Pygmy Grasshopper?

just the ending
I just noticed too that some books have it ending "us" and others "a". I checked the Orthoptera Species File from the Philadelphia Academy, and they have it ending in "a", so that's what I'll do from now on. Tried to fix them all, but some were already past the editable point.

Saw in Piedmont too
I just saw several of these around Jordan Lake, Chatham County, but did not get a photo. I thought they were nymphs at first, but realized they flew, not just leapt. Might be Tetrix.

Fabulous shot.
What a fantastic image. Demonstrates that the critter is well camouflaged, yet you can actually see it! :-) Nice job, Lynette.
