Adult Male - Enoplognatha intrepida - male

Adult Male - Enoplognatha intrepida - Male
Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada
October 29, 2010
Size: BL = 3 mm
I just realized that the other pictures don't show the abdominal markings very well, and that was what initially made me take a second look at this spider in the field. Even on a spider this small, the dark area in the center of the abdomen is easily visible without magnification. Levi (1957) has diagrams showing dorsal abdominal patterns for several species in this genus, but for some reason he does not include this one. So, here is a picture taken shortly after the spider was placed in alcohol. The abdomen still looks like it did when the spider was alive. Also shows something of the eye arrangment.
