Stenolemus nymph feeding on house spider egg sac - Stenolemus

Stenolemus nymph feeding on house spider egg sac - Stenolemus
Madison, Madison County, Mississippi, USA
October 31, 2010
This Stenolemus nymph was probing the house spider's egg case and feeding on the eggs. It got visibly fatter over several hours, I don't know if the spider was aware of the bug, but it stayed away. Later, after dark, I saw that the spider had captured the bug and was sucking it dry. All this happened, appropriately, on Halloween. Little trick-or treaters should beware!

The next morning, the spider was putting the finishing touches on a new egg sac.
