Male tarantula...nice photos
This is a Male Aphonopelma sp. It is Mating time in fall and the males are commonly out looking for the burrows of females for a romantic encounter. This fellow is some where around seven years and has reached his full maturity and will die in the next couple of months....hopefully he got lucky a couple of times and was able to pass his genes on to future prodigy.

Revision
The large tarantulas in the genus Aphonopelma are currently the subject of a major revision. Until this is finished, it will be almost impossible to definitively identify many of these spiders to species. For now the best thing is to call it "Aphonopelma sp."
