Detail shows the dark cheeks characteristic of this species (
Syrphidae of Oklahoma). Note, also, the short, thick pile on the thorax and that the basal halves of the tibiae are whitish, fairly sharply demarcated. I believe one can just make out (
<) the "1-6 short hairs on dorsum of
arista" (
Syrphidae of Ontario) on the left antenna (lower right in image).
