Carpet beetle - Harpalus rufipes

Carpet beetle - Harpalus rufipes
Boxborough, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
November 5, 2010
Size: 15 mm
Although I found it on a carpet indoors, it looks more like Harpalus pennsylvanicus than a carpet beetle. I can add more photos.

Carpet beetle - Harpalus rufipes Oblique - Harpalus rufipes Elytron - Harpalus rufipes Fringe of hairs - Harpalus rufipes Right, rear corner of pronotum - Harpalus rufipes

Harpalus rufipes
is my image-based opinion supported (in part) by subg. Pseudoophonus showing dense punctae/pubescence over entire elytra AND pronotum with basal groove poorly defined (interrupted by punctae) AND pronotal hind angle sharp.

Moved
Moved from Ground Beetles.

indeed, at least same subgenus as H. penn.
would like an oblique to lateral view at the elytra -- just in case

Pronotum
Based on Peter Messer's comment on my last such beetle(1) I thought the punctate pronotum was enough for species ID. I can add a closeup of the pronotum but I think it's adequately visible here.
