To me it looks like
one of the corydalids (fish flies, dobsonflies, alderflies). Though I could be wrong because i'm not fimilliar with many beetle larva. Do you have a picture that shows the "tails" (or lack there of) at the very rear of the body?

Are the gills or whatever they are on the non-legged segments hidden under it? If it doesn't have any, could this be a waterbeetle larva?
