Dilophus orbatus? - Dilophus orbatus

Dilophus orbatus? - Dilophus orbatus
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
October 31, 2010
Size: unrecorded
Found on unknown weed under pine tree. This was a very active one. It acted as though it was having a problem, constantly wiping at the eyes and attempting to preen while still walking. It was consequently very clumsy, constantly falling off and getting back up on the leaf. This is the first March Fly I have seen this late in the year. Apparently, there are "fall species" I was unaware of.
