Habitat
More likely to be found on vertical surfaces than related genera, which spend much of their time on large, more or less horizontal leaves.
Remarks
About 8 species in North America.
S. tener, filipes, and delicatus are shining species. Males are distinctive with very long legs and slim abdomen.
S. rutilus and nebraskensis are very small, possibly female and male of the same species.
S. pallens and wiedemanni are similar dull colored species distinguished primarily by the fore legs of males.
S. platypterus males have broad, wedge-shaped wings and tarsomere 3 and basal half of tarsomere 4 of mid-leg flattened and white. (S. pallens has white on fore tarsi.)
