~40 spp. in our area(2), ca. 600 worldwide(1)
Identification
Males and most females have flagellomeres "sculptured" instead of cylindrical. R cell ends abruptly, cut off nearly at a right angle mid-wing.
Larva has posterior prolegs (may be difficult to see) and not anterior prolegs.
Eggs are distinctive, bent into a C shape, laid in groups in a gelatinous mass.
