Mini Sarc - female

Mini Sarc - Female
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
November 7, 2010
This fly caught my attention because of its size, smaller than I associate with Sarcophaga. Maybe Ravinia or just a mini sarc?

Bob, i want it back
i'm trying to get Dr Pape back to look at our sarcs

Sorry, thinking we had too many sarcs.

partly true...
too many Sarcophaga, perhaps -- but this one looks different to me, and we'd rather try harder to get them expert-checked before launching a maßfraß campaign... once we've figured out what is there in our stacks, i'll be the first to have a field day frassing them... with vengeance

Maybe underfed
I have read that size of adult Sarcophagidae, or at least Sarcophaga, depends strongly on amount of food available to the larva.
