Scaralina Yanega, 2024

Remarks
This genus was described in 2024, changing the combination of the notable eastern U.S. fulgorid previously referred to as
Calyptoproctus marmoratus. The name
Alphina glauca (referred to on BugGuide and iNaturalist; of which all western forms of
Scaralina were previously placed) was reinstated as a synonym of
marmorata. Four new species were described for our fauna.
The page previously treated as Alphina glauca has been changed to Scaralina metcalfi in order to avoid any page deletions. S. metcalfi is not a synonym of A. glauca. Yanega et al. 2024
(1) states: "[...]although [Z.P. Metcalf] might not have included specimens of this taxon in the paratype series of his
Crepusia glauca, it is the only species of the three he might have seen that is in the same species group as marmorata." Thus, we chose
S. metcalfi to replace the
A. glauca page.
