under-pine-bark pupa - Asemum striatum

under-pine-bark pupa - Asemum striatum
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
April 6, 2006
Size: about 10 - 12 mm
When I found several pupae like this one under the bark of a pine stump that I think might have been cut down a year and-a-half ago, I thought they were longhorned beetles. Studying these closeup photos, I'm not quite so sure now. I guess I'll know soon enough!
