Moth ID, please - Samea castellalis
Austin-Jollyville area, Williamson County, Texas, USA
November 7, 2010
This moth seems to be very common the area. Assembly Moth - Hodges#5150 (Samea ecclesialis)??

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Yes, 5150 - Samea ecclesialis

Comparison of Samea multiplicalis and S. ecclesialis can be found on the Moth Photographers Group located here.
Diacme lacks the dark marks along the costa

Looks OK for Samea
I'm studying moths in the same area (off Oak Knoll) and I haven't observed Samea yet, but the similar #5140 Diacme elealis has been fairly regular at my porchlights. I should hasten to add that I can find little/no information to help distinguish three Diacme's that are documented in the Austin area: D. elealis, D. adipaloides, and D. phyllisalis.

Thanks for the ID
I've photographed a number of these (Samea) at different parks in southern Wmson during the daytime. Could they be less nocturnal than some of the others?

Thanks for the ID.
