Size: .75 inch long
Found this in our bathroom today; I believe it got in through our bathroom fan. We have been dealing with a yellow jacket problem for the last several weeks, and since this one has a different appearance from the others we have seen, I'm wondering if it is the queen.

why move here and not to species, genus, or at least subfamily?

Yes, it is a queen. Not "the" queen, however. There are hundreds of new virgin queens produced from a nest who will disperse, mate, and overwinter. This is just one of them
