According to a comment here, Aulacigaster can be identified by banded eyes. Do you have a picture clearly showing more of the eyes?

John, thank you and there are no more pictures available for this UK fly.
Other pictures were blurred beyond usefulness.
Animal was very nervous and would not stay put for more than few seconds.
I do not recall if I observed banding (chased the fly through the meadow, with my eye on the viewfinder).
