Anisota gettin' it on - Anisota virginiensis - Male Female
Fort Pierce, St. Lucie County, Florida, USA
April 8, 2006
At sunset. The male bugged out after a few shots, but the female is still there at 11:55 at night.

Moved
Moved from Pink-striped Oakworm Moth. Moved to the new subspecies page set up by Dr. Tony Thomas. See his discussion here.

Thanks everyone!

It wasn't really fast....
.... I had to look at the Anisotas in Ferguson's MONA fascicle. The male in this photo is virtually identical to the one of fig. 21 on Ferguson's plate 5 of a male from Gainesville, Florida and attributed to the southern subspecies pellucida

7723 -- Pink-striped Oakworm Moth -- Anisota virginiensis
Fantastik Foto!

Bob, what gives this one away?
We have been struggling with Anisota here on BugGuide. There are actually about twenty images stuck on the genus page that we can't seem to get to species. How did you get this one to species so fast?
