Leaf litter beetle - Cercyon adumbratus - male

Leaf litter beetle - Cercyon adumbratus - Male
Thurston County, Washington, USA
November 15, 2010
This beetle was collected in Olympia, Washington, on November 10th, in mixed coniferous forest leaf litter using the winkler method. It's tarsi are 5-5-5. There are less than 10 antennomeres. I could not ID this - it's face looks Scarabaeoid, however it's antennae are symmetrically capitate. Is it close to Sphindidae? The forelegs are fossorial. The prosternum and the first ventrite have cool longitudinal carinas. The mesosternum is produced into a somewhat rectangular process.
