Sorry..made a mistake here...this is definitely C. adumbratus (Mannerheim) due to the pubescent dorsal surface (evident here on the elytra),which I somehow missed, combined with the impressed striae, convex intervals, and color; Pacific coast species.

Cercyon lateralis
due to presence of shallow pit-like punctures on the metasternum (see ventral). If you still have the specimen, you may want to confirm that by scoping.
